Pets’ Corner privacy notice

We understand that your privacy is important to you and it’s important to us too. Pets’ Corner is owned and managed by Harlow Council and we want to continue to protect this important facility for enjoyment now and in the future.  This privacy notice tells you what to expect when the Pets’ Corner team collect and process your personal information.

How we collect your personal information

Most of the time your personal information will be provided by you directly,  when, for example you apply to volunteer with us, or if there is an incident whilst at Pets' Corner, or if you when you book an event with us, or sponsor an animal.

Why we collect your personal information

Your information will be used for the purposes it is collected. Without this information, we will be unable to support the event, or assist you with volunteering opportunities.

What personal information we collect

We will only need your name, address, telephone number and details of your preferred method of contact (such as your email address). We will ask for contact details for a contact in the event of an emergency.

How we will use your data

Your information will be used for the purposes it is collected. If you sponsor an animal, your name will be displayed on the animals enclosure throughout the period of sponsorship.

We do not sell your information to other organisations. We do not move your information beyond the UK. We do not use your information for automated decision making.

Who your information may be shared with (internally and externally)

We will sometimes need to share information with other departments within the council. For example, we may need to share volunteer and visitor information to ensure the safety of volunteers and the public, or to assist with the oversight and management of the facility. If there is an incident during your visit, we will provide your details to our Health and Safety team, and or the council’s insurers.

How long we keep your personal information

As a matter of principal, all personal information will be held securely and will only be retained electronically for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was provided. Where it is no longer necessary to hold your information, it will be securely destroyed. More detailed information on the councils retention periods can be found on the council’s records retention policy, which you can find on our main privacy notice page.

Your rights with respect to your personal data can also be found on our main privacy notice page.
