The Harlow Local Plan is over 5 years old and following the National Planning Policy Framework, we must now begin preparing the next local plan.
The process in which new local plans is produced has changed and is set out in the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026.
The new local plan must be prepared within 30 months and includes 3 gateway stages which the plan will need to pass through. Before the 30-month timetable begins, a 4 month scoping stage will take place identifying matters and issues the plan should consider. This will be informed by a scoping consultation with the public.
Updates and information on the new Harlow local plan will be published here. The latest timetable for the new plan is available to download below as both a PDF and CSV file. The timetable will continue to be updated as certain stages in the plan-making process are met.
