Councillor Andrew Johnson, Chair of Harlow Council, said:
“Today is Saint George’s Day – a day of both pride and patriotism. It is a time to reflect on the spirit, strength, and cultural heritage of our country; our national commitment to justice, fairness, and mutual respect.
“Today we also celebrate the birthday of England’s greatest ever playwright, William Shakespeare. He wrote of our country:
‘This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.’
‘May we always cherish England, and the values that unite us as a people.
“I wish you all a Happy St George’s Day.”
