Council meetings now broadcast live online

Harlow Council has launched a new webcasting service so residents can watch council meetings live online.

Full Council, Cabinet and Development Management Committee meetings can be watched online

Tomorrow (14 December) history will be made with the first ever Full Council meeting being broadcast live from 7.30pm. The meeting can also be watched back, or specific agenda items viewed after the meeting has ended.

The council has followed many other councils up and down the country to webcast its meetings live online.

Previously Full Council and Cabinet meetings were recorded by local online newspaper Your Harlow and made available to view on YouTube. This was part of an arrangement between the council and YourHarlow which first started nearly 9 years ago.

Councillor Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council, said:

“I would like to thank YourHarlow for the service they have provided in reporting and recording council decisions which started the modernisation of the way our residents could watch local democracy in action.

"The council’s investment in a webcasting service builds upon that with residents now being able to watch live from the comfort of their own homes important decisions being made about their town.

"This is all part of our priority to improve council services and making our decision-making as transparent and open as possible."
