The next seven residential areas across Harlow have been named as the first to benefit from Harlow Council’s expanded estate improvement programme.
The Rapid Estate Enhancement Programme is being extended this year to deliver visible improvements to more neighbourhoods that have experienced neglect over time - helping to refresh local areas and restore a sense of pride working with residents.
The programme forms part of the council’s wider mission to “renew our neighbourhoods” and builds on the works done last year in estates such as Milwards, Longbanks and Altham Grove.
The seven estates included in this next phase are Brockles Mead, Jocelyns, Felmongers, Glebelands, Spencers Croft, Holly Field and Perry Springs.
The programme will focus on practical changes that make a real difference to how estates look and feel, creating cleaner, safer and more welcoming places to live. Work will include clearing rubbish and litter, as well as tidying public spaces. Detailed plans for each estate are currently being finalised, with improvements tailored to the needs of each local area.
Councillor Nicky Purse, Cabinet Member for Environment and Enforcement, said:
“These are the first estates to benefit from this expanded programme, with more areas across the town set to follow. This is about more than just improvements to estates - it’s about working with residents to restore pride, renew neighbourhoods, and create places people can be proud to call home.
“The programme will involve intensive activity to deliver visible improvements. An important part of this work will be ensuring that, once improvements are made, residents continue to work with us to keep their estates clean and tidy. This includes making use of available services and reporting issues to the council.
“Together, we can take pride in where we live. Let’s Build Harlow’s Future together.”
