Leader announces return of weekly Harlow Market

The Leader of Harlow Council, Councillor Dan Swords, has today announced that a weekly Harlow Market will return to the town centre.

Market Square is currently undergoing a major transformation - with new bars, restaurants, nightlife and more - turning it back into a place people want to be, day and night. Once construction completes this summer, a brand‑new weekly market will launch in the heart of the town centre, bringing back the best local traders, fresh produce and the lively atmosphere Harlow was once known for.

Alongside this, the council has confirmed that after last year’s success, the Harlow Christmas Market will also return. This year it will spread across Broad Walk and Market Square, complete with an ice rink, rides and festive entertainment for all ages.

Announcing the return of a regular market, Councillor Dan Swords, said:

“With the rebuild of Harlow town centre well underway, we are bringing life back to our town so residents can be proud of Harlow once again. Harlow was once famous for its market - it faded away, but now it’s coming back. A weekly market will take pride of place in Market Square once more.

“And it doesn’t stop there. The hugely popular Christmas market will be back, bigger and better than ever.

“We are restoring the traditions our residents once enjoyed and putting the heart back into our town - from a weekly market to a revived nightlife, to the return of the Harlow Town Show, and to M&S coming back to Harlow. This is Building Harlow’s Future.”
