New survey puts residents at the heart of Harlow’s retail plans

Published date

Residents across Harlow are being invited to help shape the future of shopping in the town through a new independent survey, as Harlow Council continues its work to rebuild our town.

Starting later this week, around 700 households will be contacted by independent company NEMS Market Research on behalf of the council. The short telephone survey will explore residents’ shopping habits, giving the council valuable insight into where and how people choose to shop.

The survey will take around six to seven minutes to complete, with most calls made outside normal working hours to ensure as many households as possible can take part.

All responses will remain anonymous. No personal information will be collected beyond basic demographic details such as age and gender, and all results will be used in statistical form only.

Councillor Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council, said:

“Following on from securing major brands such as M&S, David Lloyd Harlow and IKEA, this survey is another important step in delivering our Building Harlow’s Future mission to rebuild our town.

“The findings will play a key role in shaping the next phase - helping us bring forward the attractions, experiences and activities that residents want to see, while strengthening our ability to attract further private sector investment into Harlow.”

The council welcomes people taking part in the survey and greatly appreciates all responses, but anyone contacted is under no obligation to take part. If anyone who receives a call has concerns at any point, they should hang up and report it to the council.

If you are contacted and would like to know more about the study, please phone Contact Harlow on 01279 446655.
