Harlow Council is currently on site building more council homes than in the past 30 years combined. Every single new home built through the Council House Building Programme will be given to Harlow families on the Housing Needs Register, providing the security, comfort, and opportunity that comes with a place to truly call home.
Across Harlow, construction is progressing at pace on multiple sites including Parnell Road, Perry Road, Staple Tye Depot, Woodleys, The Yorkes, Arkwrights, Pytt Field, and Sherards House - places that had stood empty, or derelict for years are now being reborn as thriving new communities.
These developments will deliver high-quality, modern, and energy-efficient council homes designed for the future - helping to renew neighbourhoods, strengthen our community, and ensure that every Harlow family has the chance to build a better life right here in our town.
Commenting on the progress, following a recent site visit, Cllr Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council, said:
"The progress is clear for everyone to see - we are now building more council homes than in the past 30 years combined. The first sites are due to be completed before Christmas with many others literally coming out of the ground as we speak.
“These new, high-quality homes will transform derelict sites into vibrant neighbourhoods and provide Harlow families with the security and opportunity they deserve. This progress is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about Building Harlow’s Future by delivering on our missions to ‘rebuild our town’ and ‘invest in our housing’.”
