For a record fifth year in a row, Councillor Andrew Johnson has been elected Chair of Harlow Council, with Councillor Sue Livings elected as Vice-Chair for 2026 to 2027.
The appointments were made at the Annual Council meeting on 21 May 2026.
During 2025 to 2026, the Chair of the Council raised an incredible £18,900 for his chosen charities, which will be split equally between Mike’s Den and Butterfly Effect & Wellbeing.
The Annual Council meeting also unanimously agreed to appoint former Councillor Maggie Hulcoop as an Honorary Alderman in recognition of her outstanding service to Harlow and the council, including serving as Chair of the Council on three occasions.
The Chair of the Council is the ceremonial head of Harlow Council. The chair plays an important civic role in engaging with the people of Harlow. This includes attending community events.
