Popular paddling pools and splash parks open

Harlow’s popular free-to-use paddling pools and splash parks are now open as planned for the start of the school summer holidays.

As part of the council’s mission to deliver high-performing services, further upgrades have been made to the facilities this year including:

  • Improvements to the toilets at Staple Tye Splash Park
  • Upgrading water filtration systems at the older pools at Bush Fair, Norman Booth, Sumners and the Town Park.
  • New splash pad surface at Potter Street
  • A new mural around the Town Park Paddling Pool created by artist Els Morris and students at The Downs Primary School.

In addition, shelters for the paddling pool attendants have been installed. All these upgrades are on top of improvements made last year which included new gates on the Town Park, drainage and safety works at Staple Tye and new playground surrounding the Sumners pool.

The four paddling pools are at Harlow Town Park, Bush Fair, Norman Booth in Old Harlow and Sumners. The town’s two splash parks can be found at Staple Tye and Potter Street.

Councillor Danielle Brown, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Community, said:

“Our paddling pools and splash parks are amazing facilities for our town. They are a great way for families to cool down and enjoy the six-week summer holidays in Harlow . They are free at the point of use and extremely popular in the warm weather. The ongoing investment by the council into these facilities means that we continue to improve them and deliver better services every year for the enjoyment of all.

“We now have a wonderful new mural around the Town Park Paddling Pool with the voices of children at its heart - be kind, be honest and be wild! It really has brightened up the area and created an even more fun space for children to play in.”

The Staple Tye Splash Park is an extremely popular and there is limited parking available at this site, so you are asked to consider alternative forms of travel if possible. You are asked to park considerately and observe local parking restrictions.

The paddling pools and splash parks are open 7 days a week from 10am-6pm. You can stay up to date on the status of each of the paddling pools and splash parks.
