Leah Manning Centre

About

The Leah Manning Centre provides specialist day care for older people with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The centre is named after a former teacher and MP for Epping in the 1930s and 1940s.

We run the centre in partnership with Essex County Council Adult Social Care, which funds the specialist day care.

Our highly skilled staff provide person-centred support and individual care plans.

Activities

The Leah Manning Centre is an ideal environment to make friends and socialise with others.

Every day at the centre is different, with a variety of stimulating activities and opportunities on offer for older adults with a range of support needs.

Our activities are designed to maximise independence and maintain skills for everyday living, helping our users to be part of their local community and meet new people.

Everyone is offered choice and control over the activities they want to participate in.

Example activities:

• arts and crafts
• cinema afternoons
• quizzes
• mobile library
• physical games
• reminiscence through pictures and music
• singalongs and music
• Monthly outings
• bingo and raffles
• board games
• sensory and therapeutic activities

Accessing our service

If you are interested in attending our centre there are two routes you could take:

• self-referral
• referral from Essex County Council Social Services

Self-referral

If you opt for self-referral, you can contact the Leah Manning Centre for more information on charges and availability. We have a range of packages available to suit your individual needs and requirements.

Packages can include:

• full day attendance
• transport to and from your home
• hot two-course lunch

Referral from Essex County Council

If you would like a referral from Essex County Council Social Services, they will assess your requirements for care and support.

This can be either through their in-house teams or by setting you a personal budget to pay for your visits to the centre. Direct payments are welcome.
