We offer a free textile bag collection as part of our bulky waste service.
Yes please
The things we can collect include:
- clothes
- paired shoes
- towels
- pillowcases and sheets
- coats and jackets
- handbags
- scarves and gloves
- hats
- curtains
- belts
- cloths
No thanks
- very dirty items
- duvets
- pillows
- cushions
- sleeping bags
- blankets
You need to place the textiles in a bag and clearly label it 'textiles'. We will take the bag, so do not use anything you want to keep.
Once we collect the textiles, they will be sorted for recycling. The plastic bags will be separated and sent on for recycling at another facility.
Other disposal options
Clothing that is in good condition can be reused by:
- donating to charity
- selling online on sites such as eBay, Gumtree and Preloved
- selling at a boot sale
- holding a clothes swap or swishing event where you can swap items with friends
- depositing at a textile bank
Textile banks
We are working with ASTCO to provide a number of textile banks across the town.
All materials collected from the clothing banks are re-used and help reduce landfill.
To report a full or damaged bank, please call ASTCO on 01507 466159.
