Article 4 directions

There is one Article 4 direction in the Mark Hall North conservation area:

The direction means that you need to make a planning application before making certain changes to your house. 

The developments include:

• alterations to the roof at the front of the house
• building a porch
• building a rear outbuilding, pool or other enclosure
• building a hard standing
• removing, altering or erecting a chimney
• building or demolishing front garden walls, fences or gates
• other alterations, including painting the house

Many of these are only relevant where they would be visible from a road or pavement, but you can find full details in the Mark Hall North management plan and guidance.

The direction has been in place since 28 October 2023 and affects all houses in the Mark Hall North conservation area.
